The G-Seat joins the setup

Several people have expressed dismay or concern about the crappy chair they saw in some of the photos here.

At last the truth can be told: the chair was a stand-in for an Ultraforce G-Seat by Pat Dotson. A couple of weeks ago iRacing released an API that allowed Pat to build a software interface between iRacing and the G-Seat - which means that I've been able to retire the chair.

Attached are some photos of the latest setup, with G-Seat complementing the pedals.

What load cell you used? 30 or 60 kg?

According to my notes, we used a 30 kg load cell. I think a 60 kg cell would also work; you'd just compensate for the difference during calibration.

Thanks for all the posts on the pedals.

Ive just started making some very similar and your posts have given me inspiration and some great ideas.

Nice work to both of you.

Thank you, thren! I hope your pedals come out well and are as useful as these.

Why not use load cells for all the pedals? Would it not offer more movement resolution over a pot? I guess I don't understand why it's better for the brake but not the clutch and accelerator?

This is absolutely awesome! I was just outside pondering how to make the wheel stand that I just fabricated better, and i think i have found my next project!

One question I have though is will this work with a ps3 for GT5? I too use the iRacing sim, but also like GT5. Just wondering if you had done any testing with that.

Well done on the fabrication to both of you! (Regardless that Amos did all the work ;)) This is a beautiful set of pedals!

Come to think of it, another question i have is what you paid in materials?
